UPS in ND has never been easier to find.

UPS in ND is a worldwide package delivery company based in Sandy Springs, Georgia, US. Delivering over 15,000,000 packages daily throughout 220 countries world-wide serving more than 6,000,000 customers. James Casey started the American Messenger Company on August 28, 1907 in Seattle, Washington. The first delivery vehicle was a Model T Ford which began delivery in 1913. At that time Merchants Parcel Delivery was formed by merging with their competitor, Evert McCabe which provided a avenue for consolidated delivery to multiple neighborhoods.

Oakland, California was the first neighborhood to receive delivery service under the new name United Parcel Service aka UPS. The service began to grow in New York City, NY then expanded to other major cities on the East Coast and Midwest under the name United Parcel Service which was widely embraced in 1930. All of the delivery vehicles were painted Pullman brown to represent cleanliness and professionalism. In the beginning Casey was looking to paint the trucks yellow, but his partner Charlie Soderstrom mentioned that the trucks would be tons of effort to keep clean vs. painting them brown. Most of the trucks are built on top of a Ford or General Motors chassis with manual steering and manual transmission without a stereo or air conditioning. Most of the UPS delivery vehicles last about 20-25 years then their stripped down and the spare parts are reused, then the logo is defaced and the truck is sent to the scrapyard to be crushed under UPS supervision which are never resold to the public.

Mainly UPS specializes in time-sensitive package and document delivery throughout the world, but in recent years they expanded to service supply chains and smaller than truckload delivery’s. They operate on a hub and spoke model to where deliveries are sent to hubs, then routed to other hubs nearest to the package destination. Their UPS air network also works simularilyt operations are stream-lined for quick unloading and loading of delivery’s. UPS has over 425,300 employees; 67,300 in international locations and over 358,400 employees in the United States. There are over 240,000 employees who represent the International Brotherhood of Teamsters.
